Southeast Asia internet disruption to continue

The effects of the Boxing Day earthquake to the south of Taiwan that measured 6.7 on the Richter Scale and brought internet chaos to much of Southeast Asia, are now expected to be more long lasting than previously estimated. Repairs were originally expected to be completed within two weeks, but the damage is now known to be more serious and restoration of full service is not now expected before the end of January.

In “Second Internet Slowdown Likely”, The Bangkok Post reports a probable further slowdown in network services as people start to return to work following the holiday period, placing further load on an already strained system.
