Wordpress

During the course of transitioning the Webspace Works website to run off Wordpress, a number of plugins were developed to provided some necessary additional functionality.

Pages describing each of the plugins, as well as access to downloadable files, may be accessed through the links in the righthand sidebar, or via the summaries below.

Both the fold_page_list and fold_category_list plugins were originally developed under WP1.5, but have since been used successfully in the newer WP2.0+ series.

All plugins are provided under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

Multi-level page navigation with Fold Page List

There is a problem in generating multi-level navigation lists in wordpress because each page only carries a reference to its parent. There is therefore no direct means of establishing the grandparent of a page, and so no means of constructing a navigational list based upon that relationship.

I receive several requests for widget compatibility of the Wordpress plugins available here, especially the two for folding/collapsing/expanding navigational lists of pages and categories. The work has already been done and widget compatibility is available from a number of places.

Fold category list

Wordpress plugin for folding, collapsing, expanding (however you wish to refer to it) complete category navigation lists to just the top level categories, and then expanding only the sub-hierarchy for the current page. Includes a means of including a long and a short category description, with a view to using the short description as “tooltip” text on category links.
